Occupational Therapy At Home

Telehealth Session - Occupational Therapy with a child at home

Beginning a new chapter!

8 Senses Therapy is thrilled to introduce our new Telehealth service! We understand the challenge of balancing your children's needs, school, work, and the long travel times for therapy appointments. Our new Telehealth service aims to make occupational therapy easily accessible - wherever you may be!

Beginning in January, you will be able to access the guidance of our experienced therapist, Arisse Gozon, right from the comfort of your home. Arisse has over 20 years of experience in the field and is excited to extend her expertise to benefit children outside of Adelaide. Our mission is to provide efficient, collaborative, and effective therapy solutions for children; ensuring they get the help they need when they need it.

What Makes Telehealth so Effective?

Telehealth is a fast-evolving practice of healthcare that takes advantage of modern-day technology to provide health services remotely. This can include appointment scheduling, consultations, health monitoring, and even certain aspects of physical therapy.

Telehealth has become more relevant due to the ongoing global pandemic, which has magnified the importance of maintaining accessible healthcare while minimising physical contact and travel. It has allowed healthcare professionals to reach patients in regional areas; increasing the accessibility of services for everyone. For parents living in regional areas of South Australia, our Telehealth service means your children can receive the care they need without leaving their familiar home environment.

Telehealth Service Benefits

Eliminate Travel Time

Through our Telehealth service, families in rural locations no longer need to worry about the logistical challenges that come with traditional therapy sessions. This means no more long drives to the city, no more traffic concerns, no more arranging work schedules around appointments, and no more taking your children out of their comfortable home environment.

The beauty of Telehealth lies in its ability to bring high-quality healthcare right into your living room. This convenience not only saves time and resources but also removes the stress and exhaustion that come from frequent travelling. With Telehealth, your child's therapeutic needs are met where they feel most comfortable - in their homes. It's healthcare tailored to your lifestyle, ensuring therapy continues no matter where you live.

Increased Collaboration

Telehealth fosters improved communication and collaboration by providing a virtual platform where the parent, child, and occupational therapist can interact seamlessly. Unlike traditional therapy sessions where parents often take a backseat, Telehealth sessions involve parents more actively in their child's therapy.

As a parent, you will get the unique opportunity to observe and participate in therapy sessions, gain insights into how your child is responding, and learn first-hand from Arisse Gozon about the strategies and techniques employed. This active involvement enhances your understanding, enabling you to better support your child's developmental journey outside of therapy sessions.

Improves Consistency

Consistency is critical for your child’s progress in occupational therapy. Our Telehealth service reduces the chances of missed appointments due to illness or travel constraints. This ensures consistency in our therapy sessions so we can achieve the best outcomes for your child.

Provides a Comfortable and Safe Environment for Children

Children often feel more comfortable in their home environment which can lead to more effective therapy sessions. They can learn to apply new strategies in the exact environment where they will be used, which can improve their understanding and implementation of new skills.

Telehealth services also eliminate the need to visit a clinic or hospital, reducing exposure to illnesses such as the common cold, flu, or other infectious diseases. This is particularly important in the current COVID-19 pandemic, where limiting physical contact and maintaining social distancing is vital. By choosing Telehealth services, you ensure that your child can continue their therapy in the safety and comfort of their own home.

Personalised Therapy Sessions

Each child is unique. Arisse Gozon takes the time to understand your child's specific needs, strengths, and areas in need of development. The therapy sessions are then tailored to suit their unique requirements, ensuring that your child gets the most out of every session. This personalised approach ensures a more targeted and effective therapy, fueling your child's progress and development.
